Styled Shoot for The 9th Atlanta NotWedding!

A few weeks ago, I was a vendor at the 9th Atlanta NotWedding, that took place at Monday Night Brewing. It is a great event for engaged couples, bridal party members and those in the wedding industry. The NotWedding is basically a bridal show in the form of a fake wedding! I know, awesome right?!

Well toward the end of September, to get ready for the event some of the vendors got together to do a styled shoot. For those of you who don't know what a styled shoot is, it's basically a photo shoot where certain vendors collaborate on a theme. Being that this was for the NotWedding, our theme was a Bourbon and Cigar Engagement Party! Yes, very swanky ;-)

I was personally in love with this theme and it was great to meet some of the other vendors who would be involved with this event. The shoot turned out to be an amazing experience and I thought I would share some of them with you! I provided hair and makeup for the female models and grooming for the male model.

I've added a vendor list below of all the vendors that were involved, so for all of you bride-to-be's and those having any events coming up ... These are some amazing people to work with! Be sure to check out more images in my Bridal and Beauty/Editorial sections :-)

Bride Plus 3, 4, or MORE!

It's October ... I mean, I seriously cannot believe it is already October! I know people always say every year goes by so quickly, but THIS year is almost over!!!

It has been a busy, hectic, and fun year. And I have had so many weddings these past few months! I don't know about other wedding vendors, but for me, between May and October go  by in a daze! Plus I was honored to be the hair and makeup artist for The 9th NotWedding Atlanta event last week (more on that soon)!

I honestly feel like I have the most amazing clients! Not only are my brides amazing, but their friends, bridesmaids, mothers, aunts, and grandmothers are also fabulous!

When a bride contacts me, very rarely is she interested in makeup just for herself. 95% of my brides want their entire bridal party to look their most beautiful ... I mean let's think about it, the investment that you make for the photographer and videographer ... Everyone needs to look fab!

A couple of weeks ago, I had the privilege of working with Ashlee who I has already gotten to know quite well. Her maid of honor, Nikkee, contacted me about a trial and we have had a great time ever since! It was a such a joy seeing all of them have such a great time enjoying the morning together and getting glammed up!

I did hair and makeup for the bride and mother of the bride (and even changed the brides hair up for her reception as well). I also got to do makeup for the 5 bridesmaids. Rachel, who was one of those bridesmaids was kind enough to send me a selfie a few days ago.

She wrote the sweetest note and gave me the best compliment ever! She is naturally quite gorgeous so glamming her up was a lot of fun! She seriously smokin' hot!

Thank you Rachel for this photo, your spirit, and kindness! I look forward to the day when I can work with you again. The entire bridal party was so attentive to Ashlee and you could feel the love. And I'm already excited to see some of the professional photos :-) The wedding took place at Primrose Cottage, which has a lovely bridal suite and is perfectly photogenic.

For me it's so much fun to create different looks for everyone, making sure everyone feels beautiful and is comfortable. It's important to make sure that "glam time" is stress free, full of laughter, beautiful memories, and flawless faces!

"Natural" Bridal Makeup

Let's talk bridal makeup! Bridal makeup is something I thoroughly enjoy doing. I enjoy the entire process from the initial inquiry, the trial, the wedding day, and everything in between. Every once in a while I will speak with a bride and she knows exactly what she wants, but this is quite rare. Most of the time brides will send me photos or their Pinterest board with many different looks they like, but are unsure of  what will look best on them. Outside of those two situations I get one of two request the most ... "natural" makeup, and Kim Kardashian.

So let's first discuss "natural" bridal makeup (we will save the Kim Kardashian look for another post). A bride-to-be may say she doesn't wear much makeup on a day-to-day basis and doesn't want a "cakeface," or she may state she just wants to look like herself. There are also those of you who want "natural" makeup. So in all of these instances, a natural bridal look works best.

First, let's clear up something ... There is no such thing as natural makeup. As a professional and skilled makeup artist, I can give the appearance of someone not wearing makeup, but makeup is definitely still applied. Natural looking bridal makeup would not included things like a red lip, smokey eye, or contoured cheekbones.

Above is a photo of a beautiful bride I had the privilege of working with this past June, Corin. This is a wonderful example of natural looking bridal makeup. Corin is beautiful to begin with, so it was simply my job to enhance her features without distracting from them.

Regardless of your desired look for your wedding, I would be honored to work with you to create the bridal vision you desire :-)
